This month we are welcoming the lovely and super talented Lee Ann Barrett aka Greyt Paper Crafts into the Designer Spotlight. Please pop over to Lee Ann's Blog to give her a warm welcome and to leave some love :-)
As always Simon Says Stamp will be giving away $50 voucher to shop at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp Store.
Here is my card for the challenge inspiration.
To begin, I stamped More Spring Flowers on 110 Neenah White paper using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I colored the rose blossoms with copic markers : R39-R29-(R27)-Rv29-RV25-RV23-RV21.
Then I cut them using More Spring Flowers Coordinating Dies.
I wanted a deep navy colored background for today's color palette, so I decided to go with watercolors.
I prepared a piece of 300g Cold Press watercolor paper, and colored the whole panel using my Daniel Smith Watercolors. I added several layers of paints to achieve deep rich colors by drying one layer naturally and then adding another, which took a couple of hours to finish the panel.
The DS colors used were Mayan Dark Blue, Blue Apatite Genuine, Prussian Blue and Phthalo Blue (GS). I used these colors separately or mixed one or two.
Once I was satisfied with shades, I trimmed the edges to make A2 size panel. Then I cut out a circle window by using Scallp Circles Dies from Pretty Pink Posh. To maintain minimal color palette, I left the shaker background white and I used minimal colors of sequins : Sparkling Clear Sequins Mix, 3mm Sparkling Clear Sequins, Pewter Seed Beads, Sparklimg Clear Seed beads.
After I assembled the shaker, I adhered florals on the front panel with dimension. Before this, I needed things to ground the red blossoms so I heat embossed leaves from More Spring Flowers and Even More Spring Flowers in white on thick vellum paper and fussy cut them.
For messages, I diecut Script Thanks Die out of 110 Neenah White and Simon's Silver Glitter Card Stock. Small sentiment was chosen from Big Thanks Words set and was heat embossed in white.
I adhered the script and sentiment strip giving some dimension using Darice Double Sided Foam Strips. I then put the panel onto card base made of 110 Neenah White and finished off the card by adding Sparkling Clear Sequins Mix and 3mm Sparkling Clear Sequins.
Since I had never used limited color palette in non-CAS style cards, this theme was very challenging and fun at the same time. I really enjoyed the whole process.

ReplyDeleteMarge i think this is one of my most favorite card of yours, I so adore it. I love the navy blue background, it looks so stunning against the flowers and you don't see that color very often i just love how it turned out. Your shading on your flowers are amazing, I dream to shade half as well as that, they look so real and beautiful. I also love that you added the shaker to your card, it would of been amazing just as it was, but you went the extra step and added the shaker and it made your card just STUNNING, it really is such a BEAUTIFUL card and I really enjoyed this post, thanks for sharing it.
