Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge : For The Boys

Hi all and welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge

This week the challenge is

For The Boys

We are showcasing Lawn Fawn Products this week. You don't have to use them to join in but if you have some we would love to see them used.
As always Simon Says Stamp will be giving away $50 voucher to shop at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp Store.

Here is my card for the challenge inspiration.

Boys love fun things, don't they?
So I decided to make a fun pop up card.
And this is what you will see when you open the card.

If you are interested in how I made it, please  read on and find your way.

< Front Panel >

I started my card by stamping the images from Plane and Simple Stamp set, on 80lb Neenah White paper and coloring them using copic markers. Then I cut them all with coordinating dies Plane and Simple Lawn Cuts.
Next, I diecut a Village Border die from brown and green card stock, then ink blended the edges a little using distress ink Gathered Twigs.

Then, I trimmed a light blue gingham paper from Lawn Fawn Gingham pattern paper into A2 size. I foam mounted border die cuts first, then I added Plane and Simple Stamp images on the sky. I stamped a sentiment from Simply Celebrate Stamp set  on white card stock then simply cut the piece to make a banner and then I foam mounted it beneath the village outline.

Once I adhered the panel onto A2 card base, I added several enamel dots. I trimmed another panel into A2 size from Lawn Fawn Watercolor Wishes Paper pack  to put it inside the card as a wall.

< Inner Pop Up Floating Floor >

I stamped various images from Plane and Simple Stamp,  Simply Celebrate Stamp set by Lawn Fawn, Birthday Friends Stamp set, Friends Forever Stamp set by Pretty Pink Posh on 80lb Neenah White paper and colored them using copic markers. Then I cut them all with coordinating dies for each set : Plane and Simple Lawn Cuts, Simply Celebrate Lawn Cuts, Birthday Friends Die set, and Friends Forever Die set.
I stamped sentiment and adhered diecut images onto the wall.

For the floor, I trimmed a piece of blue pattern paper into 5x5.5 inch, then I scored straight lines at 3/8, 4 1/4, and 4 5/8 inch along the 5" side.
Next, I placed my die-cut images face down on the floor to mark where to cut some slits into the floor at their bases using a pencil. The images should not lay over the front edge of the floor or they will pop out of the card when you fold it.

After I cut some slits into the floor, I attached the floor to the card base at the back edge of the floor using double sided adhesive, then I inserted  L-shaped strips  I had  made out of heavyweight card stock into the slits and then I adhered the front edge of the floor onto the card base.

Next, I applied some glue on the bottom of L-strips which will support the images to stand up, then I  put down them through the slit to let the bottom part of L-strips adhered to the card base. Once the floor is done, I added die-cut images to the L-strips using glue and I finished off the card by adding some Sparkling Clear Sequins.

So now it's YOUR turn.  Happy Crafting !

  6. Hi Marge! This card is so adorable and perfect for boys indeed. I don't have a son (answering here, the question you asked me on Instagram!) but I have a brother who is 5 years younger than me so I know how he used to enjoy planes and stuff in his pre teens and teen years :) I love the front of this card and the pop up is so beautifully explained! Love it! :) You are my inspiration. Thank you so much for being so kind and sharing such resourceful stuff always! xx Ankita
